When Allowed, History Can-Will Repeat

The True Character of a So-Called ‘man’.

On Veterans Day, Donald Trump, a one-term, twice-impeached, four-time indicted, 91-count charged criminal, publicly labeled rapist by judge in civil case, former president of the United States of America, called his political ‘enemies’ (liberals and Democrats) “vermin”.

The former president’s description of leftists as “vermin” was right “out of the Nazi playbook”

That term was the one-word scatter-bomb rhetoric used by Hitler and Mussolini to elicit strong reactions from their followers which would then (always) lead to violence, and death.

And yet again, the current Republican Party has not bothered to condemn Trump’s latest use of the Nazi Playbook.

Unfortunately, we are not surprised. Examples via a sister-site:

History As Reminder: March Madness

Posted 2019.03.10

In the last parliamentary elections of the Weimar Republic in March 1933, the Nazis polled 44% of the vote – not enough for a majority but enough to put down any future political resistance. Within two weeks Adolph Hitler proposed the Enabling Act, a temporary dissolution of the constitution while he dealt with the ‘problems’ facing the nation. The Reichstag passed the proposal 441 to 84. There would be no more elections nor a constitution to keep Hitler in check. The Reichstag had, in effect, voted away its own power.

Capitalizing on the nation’s instability, the temporary became permanent. Hitler took the opportunity to purge anyone whom he disliked or had crossed him; within a matter of weeks it had become illegal to criticize the government. A new secret police force, the Gestapo, immediately began arresting ‘unreliable’ persons, and Dachau, the first concentration camp, was opened to imprison them. Trade unions were banned, freedom of the press curtailed, and all other political parties declared illegal.

Germany had become a one-party state with Hitler its leader, and soon its dictator.

Ain’t History Something…

“In 1930, Germany is a liberal democracy. Just four years later, democracy is dead, Germany’s leader is a dictator and the government is in the hands of the Nazis.”

See how Adolf Hitler and the Nazis rise to power.

Yes, History Repeats; A Short Reading List

Posted 2021.12.08

The story of the republic makes depressing reading. It records the rise and fall of a venture in democracy. Had this venture succeeded, World War II might never have taken place. Its failure plunged a nation into slavery. Democracy, like peace is indivisible. What happened in Germany had profound repercussions throughout the world. These repercussions are with us still.

In January, 1919, the republic had the support of most Germans. Fourteen years later, it was dead.

History Can and Does Repeat Itself – When Allowed

Question is, will those who want the Grand American Experiment to continue stand up to the far-right, fascism-loving domestic terrorists and traitors who take their lead from TFG, who, in his owns words, wants to take the United States of America down a path very similar to that of his model, Adolph Hitler; he himself used words like “vermin” and going after ‘left-wing’, Democracy-loving citizens, judges, legislators, federal law enforcement agencies, university professors and librarians?
