Watching and listening to insurrectionists heckle President Joe Biden during the State of the Union Address (video and transcript), I was reminded of the bad old days – the many bad days before 6 January 2021.
The far-right, anti-democracy Republicans and the Republicans who did nothing or little to stop the unprecedented tirades also reminded me of something that former President Barrack Obama said during a speech at the DNC 2020 Convention; words that became a rallying call for those Americans who saw the dangers ahead and who understood the meaning of Mr. Obama’s words: ‘Don’t let them take away your democracy’.
